In the 1930s Enzo Ferrari was a tremendously successful boss of the racing team at Alfa Romeo, but it wasn’t until 1947 that the 1st vehicle was made with his surname.

It was then, with the birth of the Ferrari 125S, that one of the most renowned companies in the car industry was unveiled in the world. The company rapidly achieved near mythical status, and Ferrari went on to develop many of the most important automobiles in history.

In keeping with their lofty acclaim, the Ferrari scuderia developed an important breakthrough in automotive engineering with the presentation of the the F430 in 2004.

Just as with a great number of other greats before, the Ferrari F430 was first shown to the world at the esteemed Paris Motor Show. It made an unforgettable entrance!

State-of-the-art engineering lies at the core of the Ferrari F430. It achieves much of its power and handling thanks to its V8 4.3l cylinder engine. With its 490hp and 8500RPM and utilizing a multi point fuel injection and electronic fuel injection system, the engine emerged directly as the result of tests performed in Ferrari’s Formula 1 garage.

It was a massive advancement on previous models.

Critics also enjoyed the new E-Diff differential, a highly sophisticated computer controlled system for varying the distribution of torque.

The F430′s aesthetic design was just as fresh, more sculptured and streamlined than preceding Ferraris.

But the F430 story doesn’t start and end with one single model. Since 2004, the Ferrari stable has gone on to produce several other variants of the original, including:

The F430 Spider

Characterised by its cool coupé style design, the Spider is the convertible version of the F430. Similar in appearance to the Ferrari 360 it made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Designed by the Turin based company Pininfarina, it was constructed using the same aerodynamics simulation systems used in Formula One.

The F430 Challenge

The Challenge was first presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005 and is a racing (and extensively modified) version of the original supercar.

The F430 GT2

Developed to take the place of the GTC 360 in 2006, this racing car model was manufactured to race in international GT2 events like the Le Mans Series and the FIA GT championship. It is the quickest and most cutting-edge of the F430 racing cars.

The F430 GT3

Another racing model, this one was created to take part in the European FIA GT3 championships. Mechanically similar to the F430 challenge, but boasting superior aerodynamics and more horsepower.

F430 Scuderia

Famously introduced by Michael Schumacher during the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007, the Scuderia version is both more lightweight and more powerful than the regular f430.

Scuderia Spider 16M

A convertible variation of the F430 Scuderia, this model was specially intended to commemorate Ferrari’s sixteenth triumph in the 2008 Formula 1 World Championships. Only 499 units were built.

F430 Spider Bio Fuel

Producing 5% fewer carbon dioxide emissions than the original F430 Spider, this ‘environmentally friendly’ model runs on ethanol and was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in 2008.

In recent years the F430 has (inevitably) been eclipsed somewhat by younger, more glamourous models, such as the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Ferrari FF, but its reputation as one of the true greats of supercar history was already well secured.

Ferrari Marathon Reaches U.s

by on 2011/12/02

In celebrating the 60th anniversary of Ferrari, the renowned Italian sports car maker started a marathon relay around the world which will feature thousands of Ferrari owners carrying a relay baton made just for the anniversary. The marathon has reached the shores of the United States recently.

To carry the baton towards the next leg of the marathon, sixty Ferrari owners gathered at The Collection, Ferrari’s authorized dealership in Miami. From there, the 60 Ferraris drove to the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The owners then drove their sports cars around the speedway in a ceremonial parade lap. The gathering of the six Ferrari car owners went to the speedway to participate in the opening of the 14th annual Ferrari Challenge.

The relay started in Abu Dhabi, and then sped through the Middle East then to China, Japan, Australia, and South Africa. After that, the relay found its way into the U.S. After the relay pass through Miami, it will continue to on Brazil, and then off to Mexico. After the two countries, the relay will once again visit the United States and Canada passing through the cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, New York and finally to Washington D.C.

After the U.S., the relay will then conquer major European countries before the baton arrives at the Ferrari factory located in Maranello, Italy and this is scheduled to happen on the 23rd of June. Throughout the marathon relay, more than 10,000 Ferrari owners would have participated. They will be the “bearers” of the relay baton, designed specifically for the 60th anniversary of the famous Prancing Horse.

The baton is the fruit of the labor of the company’s different creative agencies. It is adorned by 60 badges which were chosen to commemorate the most extraordinary achievement of the Prancing Horse in its 60 years of existence. The relay baton is toped by a glittering platinum and diamond Prancing Horse created by Damiani. The 60 badges were the works of the Intesta e D’Adda, Lorenzini, Vigorelli and BBDO advertising agencies.

Other creative talents which have lent their flair to the relay baton are: Allessando Migliorini of Area Creativa, Marco Morosini, and Enzo Naso of the Eponymous Studio and Wolfgang Seidl of Seidldesign.

The marathon will showcase different Ferrari vehicles of all ages. This will surely be appreciated by performance enthusiast and the general pubic who wants to have a look at different Ferrari cars which are known for high performance and high aesthetic value. The popularity of the Ferrari is evident in the cheering of the thousands of spectators present at the 14th Ferrari Challenge in Miami. This will also serve to further boost the popularity of the marque.

By the way things look, Ferrari is always looking for ways to appease the public. Even though just a small percentage of the global population will have a chance to drive a Ferrari, this event will make the public appreciate more the vehicles built by Ferrari over the years. It seems that even the strongest Chevy EBC brakes could not slow down the marathon from speeding around the world.

Aside from the marathon relay, Ferrari will also build a series of 60 unique Ferrari cars in the commemoration of their 60th year in the business. The cars will be based on the grand touring car of the marquee – the 612 Scaglietti. Two of these GT cars are being showcased at the ongoing 77th Geneva International Auto Show.

The colors of these cars will be taken from the same livery used on previous Ferrari models which have reached legendary status on the auto industry. These cars are so unique that they are already billed as collector’s items and are aimed at the car maker’s most dedicated clients.
